Songs of 1990
Songs of 1990
The songs of 1990 are a great collection in my opinion. Not only did my song writing improve, I recorded them in a friend's home studio that had much better equipment than I had used so far.
When You're Leaving
"A song about separation. Sometimes couples face a time apart from each other. That's a tough thing to go through. This is a song to give to the one who has to leave." — George Lewe

Lyrics
When you're leaving now
To be a lonesome year away from home.
Don't worry 'bout the friends you have to leave behind.
They'll be on your side.
And when you're leaving now
To be a lonesome year away from me.
Don't worry 'bout your place inside my heart.
I cannot give it up.
I will wait for you.
My thoughts are with you
By night and by day.
Until you return to me again.
I'll count the days
Until you're here again.
I'm missing you.
I'm missing you.
And when the year has gone
And you were far from here for such a long time.
Remember that I always was with you in my mind.
And in my heart as well.
And when the year has gone
And you are back again where you belong to.
I will hold you in my arms and never let you go.
You know I love you so.
I will wait for you.
My thoughts are with you
By night and by day.
Until you return to me again.
I'll count the days
Until you're here again.
I'm missing you.
I'm missing you.
Wait for you.
Wait for you.
Wait for you.
Wait for you.
Wait for you.
Wait for you.
Wait for you.
Wait for you.
Never Will
"A song about a girl not returning your calls. I hate it whent hat happens and you are left hanging. Quite devastating that is. Well, don't give up." — George Lewe

Lyrics
You can close your window, girl,
And you can close your door.
You can ignore the phone,
don't answer anymore.
But you can never close my heart.
And you can never lock my love.
You can play your "Mrs. Cool",
you may treat me unkind.
You can call me "Mr. Fool"
And say that I am blind.
But you will never get control
Of what I feel, of me at all.
No you can't! No you won't!
Never will you make me give up!
No, no, woman, never will.
You will not make me give up loving you.
You will not make me give up loving you.
You will not make me give up loving you.
You can take you any guy,
He'll never wear my shoe.
He will never give you, girl,
What I did give to you.
And you can swear that it is so.
I don't believe you and you know...
...that you can do what you want.
You will never make me give up!
No, no, woman, never will.
You will not make me give up loving you.
You will not make me give up loving you.
You will not make me give up loving you.
You can close your window, girl,
And you can close your door.
You can ignore the phone,
don't answer anymore.
But you can never close my heart.
And you can never lock my love.
No you can't! No you won't!
Never will you make me give up!
Mine Forever
"I am very proud of Mine Forever. I spent a lot of time designing the dramaturgic curve of it. It starts slow and quiet and adds more and more musical elements (instruments and voices) during its development until it climaxes in the guitar solo and declines slowly after it until it ends. I also liked ending it on an unresolved chord. For the guitar solo I used an effect device designed by Boston's own Tom Scholz. I liked the soft and mellow distortion of it." — George Lewe

Lyrics
I have to leave you now
I cannot stay.
Whatever I might say
It will not help to ease your pain.
I have to leave you now
Into the rain.
But please believe me girl
I surely will return again.
And then you'll be mine forever.
Mine forever.
And then you'll be mine forever.
Forever.
Don't cry no lonesome tears
When I am gone.
Our life has just begun
You have to face another day.
And when the sun goes down
And you're alone.
Just try to think of me
And wipe your lonesome tears away.
And then you'll be mine forever.
Mine forever.
And then you'll be mine forever.
Forever.
Solo
See how the time has gone
Since I've been away.
There is no more to say.
I'm back and I will hold you tight.
See how the time has gone
Into a day.
I am here by your side
Until another morning light.
And then you'll be mine forever.
Mine forever.
And then you'll be mine forever.
Forever.
That Night
"Those were the days, when a few hours of talking to a girl messed up my heart so much that I needed to work it off by writing a song about it. I love the overlapping lines and harmonies in the refrain." — George Lewe

Lyrics
That night in your arms
Showed me that I should not give you up.
That night in your arms
Made me so afraid of losing you.
Kisses on my skin
Showed me I must win
Your love, your love.
That night in my arms
Must have made you feel something inside.
That night in my arms
Must have left something that you now hide.
Kisses on your skin
Must have told you, win
My love, my love.
I am lying here at night and I can hardly find my sleep
Cause your are spinning all around my dreams.
I am swimming in my memories and I am sinking deep.
There's an abyss underneath it seems.
Hear me, darling, hear me, darling, hear me, darling, cry.
I cannot give you up. I cannot give you up.
Can't you hear me, can't you hear me cry.
I cannot give you up. I cannot give you up.
Can't you hear me, can't you hear me cry.
Your hand in my hand
Made me feel your heartbeat close to mine.
My hand in your hand
made me wish that I could stop the time.
Kisses on my skin
Showed me I must win
Your love, your love.
I am lying here at night and I can hardly find my sleep
Cause your are spinning all around my dreams.
I am swimming in my memories and I am sinking deep.
There's an abyss underneath it seems.
Hear me, darling, hear me, darling, hear me, darling, cry.
I Love You
"When I recorded I Love You, I shared a house with a living community. One of the fellow residents was an ex bass player of the band Jethro Tull. He always referred to this one as one of his favorite. I remember that I never felt comfortable with my drum tracks on my songs (not my forte 🙂 ). I made it more simple here and louder which satisfied me more at the time. I also tried something new with the Oboe sound in the middle. Despite it's faults, I still like it a lot as well." — George Lewe

Lyrics
I might be night, it might be day.
You might be thousand miles away.
It is not easy how to say
What is written deep inside me
A feeling that will always guide me
There is nothing I can do.
I love you
I love you
I love you
And I will do tomorrow and forever and a day.
I don't know what it was you did.
I don't know what it was you said.
I only know now it's too late.
Because I see u when I close my eyes.
And when I listen then I hear your voice.
There is nothing I can do.
I love you
I love you
I love you
And I will do tomorrow and forever and a day.
Solo
Every note I play, I play for you.
Every word I sing, I sing to you.
And there is nothing you can do.
I love you
I love you
I love you
And I will do tomorrow and forever and a day.
I love you
